Recently the Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association (VHTA) inducted its officers at its annual meeting at the Hotel Roanoke.

Owen Matthews, Kings Dominion, is the 2013 chair. During his acceptance talk he said, “I am honored to begin my term as your VHTA Chair. Over my term, one of my focus points will be to ensure that VHTA is connected, diverse, and evolving.

“It was great to witness the power of members connecting with members and finding solutions to their operational problems (from health care to cleaning grout). I am confident that our membership will continue to grow through welcoming all size and make-up of businesses within our tourism industry.  This growth will create even more partnerships and bring greater value to our members. VHTA will remain committed to aggressively pursuing legislative initiatives that support our members.

“I encourage all members to listen in on our monthly government affairs calls to keep VHTA informed and properly represented. We will also continue to work with the National Restaurant Association, American Hotel and Lodging Association, and the US Travel Association to ensure that we are delivering the best value to our members. Each of these national associations has helped VHTA to become a stronger organization. We will continue to work with them and ask for their support to help us help our members.”
