Phillips/SeaWings ‘Cornetfish’ Named Seafood Excellence Award Finalist

Phillips Foods showed off their latest award winning member of its seafood portfolio at the Ocean City Spring Trade Expo.The Seafood Excellence Awards—the prestigious best new products competition held in conjunction with Seafood Expo North America, formerly the International Boston Seafood Show — announced this year’s finalists. The Seafood Excellence Awards—an extension of the Seafood Prix d’Elite new product competition at the Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium–give generous praise and exposure to the products fostering innovation in the seafood industry.

Finalists compete for two awards:  Best New Foodservice Product and Best New Retail Product.  Products are evaluated on criteria including uniqueness, taste profile, packaging, marketing potential, and nutritional value.

This year’s finalists were hand-selected from more than 70 entries in the highly-competitive New Product Showcase, which will be featured at the Seafood Expo North America, held March 16-18, 2014.

Cornetfish

A Cornetfish (Fistularia commersonii) is thin and elongated like an eel, but distinguished by its very long snout. SeaWings Cornetfish is sourced off of the coast of Ecuador, where the population is considered abundant. Cornetfish has a tender and naturally sweet flavor. SeaWings offers it in two varieties: Breaded Cornetfish Fingers and Cornetfish Portions.
