I’ll Take the Check, Please.

This is a check that any of us would raise our hand for … the winning check for the annual Maryland Hospitality Education Foundation car raffle. This year’s winner is Doug “Buxy” Buxbaum from Buxy’s Salty Dog Saloon in Ocean City. Each year the Foundation (I sit on the board) sells 325 tickets for $300 each for that shot at a Mercedes or the cash. If you take the cash it’s a $45,000 payout … and we get the rest to use toward programs and scholarships (we gave out over $32,000 to kids going to school this year) that benefit the youth who want to choose foodservice as a career.

It’s always special when one of the nice guys wins. Congrats Buxy … and enjoy!
