Grapeseed Presents ‘Chessie Fest,’ a Celebration of Local Sustainable Seafood

Grapeseed_ChessiefestGrapeseed Bistro + American Wine Bar will be hosting Chessie Fest on Saturday May 3 from 12-3 p.m. Chessie Fest is a celebration of The Chesapeake Bay and Chessie the Sea Monster.  Jeff Heineman, Grapeseed’s chef/owner, will partner with Flying Dog Brewery, Chesapeake Gold Oysters, Congressional Seafood Company and Pacific Prime Wines to create a day of fun and fundraising. Prizes will be raffled off hourly including a dinner for eight with the proceeds benefiting the non-profit Oyster Recovery Partnership, the leading non-profit working to restore the Bay. The menu will include Chesapeake Gold Oysters, Wild Blue Catfish, Blue Rays and smoked Blue Fish accompanied by fried good things like hushpuppies.

Tickets are $25 in advance of the event and can be purchased online at or purchased at the door for $30.  Beer and wine specials will be offered by event sponsors, Flying Dog Brewery and Pacific Prime Wines.

Chessie is a legendary sea monster said to live in the midst of the Chesapeake Bay. Over the years there have been many alleged sightings of a serpent-like creature swimming around the Bay.
