Diana Kennedy: The Art of Mexican Cooking

When you're on deadline the last place a writer needs to be is at a cocktail reception for one more cookbook author. That is unless the author is Diana Kennedy who has actually been able to bring back into print her classic authoritative The Art of Mexican Cooking. It also helped that the chef hosting Ms. Kennedy was another devotee of Mexican cuisine Joe Raffa, chef at Oyamel … one of my favorites.

To my delight, they were selling copies of the new printing which Ms. Kennedy gladly personalized with a kind note.

While there I managed to include Stefanie Gans of in a foto with the author. Gansie offers a fresh look and more at the food scene with her acerbic wit along with co-editor Brendan Spiegel who reports from NYC. Rumor has it that she is becoming one of us … perhaps appropriate during a time when we celebrate DIa de los Muertos.
